This is really useful if you have lots of files, especially if they have similar names. If not, you can modify the search by clicking ‘+’ and adding filters, such as the kind of file it is and when it was created. If you find the file you want, you can go ahead and select it. As you type more, the search narrows, and the number of files matching the term decreases. When you click the magnifying glass in the Finder window and start typing the name of a file in the search box, you’ll see the results of the search start to appear in the window. That will reveal the full path for any file you select. TipIf you want to be able to see the full path of every file on your Mac, click the View menu in the Finder and choose Show Path Bar. But if you need to know its location, you should use the Finder. The Spotlight method is great if you just want to open the file and don’t care about where it is stored.
